Winter Lights
at The North Carolina Arboretum

You are invited to join fellow KNN Arts & Adventurers as we kick off the 2024 Holiday season with our return to the North Carolina Arboretum for their spectacular Winter Lights show.
Asheville's Brightest Holiday Tradition returns this year in its traditional outdoor walk-through open-air show format. "Designed with an artistic aesthetic, Winter Lights features beautifully lit displays and glowing landscapes nestled along the Arboretum's woodland edge and garden areas. The famously tall 50-foot lighted tree and the Quilt Garden will be back, outfitted with new designs in lights, while throughout the gardens, popular arrangements will mingle with ones never seen before."
Our evening starts with a pre-show stop at Mezzaluna where you will enjoy a dinner of your choosing from their menu.
Following dinner, we will travel to the NC Arboretum for our designated 7 PM group entry to enjoy the always spectacular Winter Lights show amongst the Arboretum's beautiful grounds. To help temper the evening chill, the Arboretum's famous Cocoa Shack will be open for your hot cocoa fix!
Winter Lights is the Arboretum's largest annual fundraiser and supports many parts of its mission driven programming.
Event details:

- 4:15 PM - gather at KCC lower parking lot and board bus
- 4:30 PM - bus departs KCC
- 4:45 PM - arrive at Mezzaluna for dinner
- 6:00 - 6:15 PM - depart Mezzaluna for NC Arboretum
- 7:00 - 7:15 PM - arrival & entry to Winter Lights show
- 8:45 PM - depart Winter lights show and re-board bus
- 9:30 - 9:45 PM - arrival Kenmure
In order to participate in this event, you are expected to utilize the bus and participate in the dinner.
Mezzaluna is a fine Italian dining experience offering elegant cuisine, gourmet wood-fired pizza, and an extensive beverage selection. The menu is built upon the simple elegance of the finest Italian cuisine. We’re certain that you and your friends and family will be in for a truly remarkable dining experience when you come in.
Mezzaluna has requested payment by credit card only in order to expedite service.
Bus Details: Our transportation provider, The Hendersonville Trolley Co., suffered tremendous damage to their fleet during Hurricane Helene. Eva Ritchey, the owner, is determined to rebuild her family business and we want to support her.
The 32-passenger vehicle originally booked is out of commission at this time. For this event, we will utilize 2 vehicles for transportation. You will either ride in a 22-passenger medium size shuttle bus or a 14-person limousine van.
Utilization of the bus or limo van is mandatory as our Winter Lights' entry ticket was purchased on a group basis.
This event has always been popular for KNN Arts & Adventures members and will fill up quickly!
Event Costs:
- Per person cost for transportation and Winter Lights' entry ticket is $25.00.
- Costs for food and beverages incurred at Mezzaluna will be paid separately on your own account.
Payment requirements: Pre-payment of $25.00 per person is required to reserve your space. For the pre-payment, a check should be made out to KNN for $25.00 per person or $50.00 per couple. Please write "Winter Lights" in the check's memo line.
The pre-payment check should be placed in an envelope addressed to "Leslie Robins" - Winter Lights" and left at the KPOA office by the due date.
Weather Considerations: As the Winter Lights show is an outdoor event, our participants will need to dress accordingly including preparing for inclement weather. Winter Lights will be held rain or shine unless the Arboretum closes for a weather-related emergency. Arboretum policy is to announce a closure by 3 PM, unless circumstances develop later that warrant a closure after the event opens. Should the Arboretum close due to a weather-related emergency, all Winter Lights tickets will be refunded for that night. There will not be a "rain-date" for our group, as our group entry ticket is specifically only for December 9th.
Event Cancellation due to Weather: Should this event be cancelled by the Arboretum due to weather emergency, those registered will receive a full refund of their pre-payment.
Participant Cancellation policy: If cancellation by a participant is not made at least 72 hours prior to the event, you will be charged for the full event.
Participation for this event is limited to the first 36 who sign-up.
KNN members will be prioritized first, before the event is opened up to guests.
Once participation limits are reached, we will utilize a waitlist for the event.
You are encouraged to sign-up early. Registration closes November 13th.
Please note: Completion of the registration form is not a confirmation that you will be able to participate. Once registered you will receive an email requesting the required pre-payment and giving the due date for pre-payment. The pre-payment amount required must be received prior to the due date. Once pre-payment is recorded, you will receive your event confirmation email.
